NAF Presidential debate to usher in the post-Lycos era

After leading the NAF since 2007 Lycos is stepping away from his position as President. Lycos was successful in three election campaigns with varying degrees of suspense and competitiveness to become the longest tenured President in NAF history. This time around we have the absolute certainty of a change at the head of our global Blood Bowl players society. Lycos has given greatly of his time in his role and has personally assisted on numerous issues that were important to NAF Canada. Not only has he headed the NAF organization but he also has managed to attend an average of 15.7 tournaments a year for the last decade. These numbers are almost inconceivable here in Canada and North America. If we look just at 2011, Lycos attended 26 ranked events, that is a tournament every other weekend for a whole year, that is a very serious commitment! While some might say, "Seriously? He should be committed!" I applaud the sheer presence in our Blood Bowl community such attendance creates.

This brings us to this election cycle. We have a wide field of candidates with 5 members being nominated, seconded and accepting their nominations. These people are, with links to their coach pages:

Beppe
Italy

Kilowog1
USA

MrHannah
UK

Sann0638
UK

Podfrey
UK

The election timeline (we are midway through right now):

-Nov 10th nominations open
-Nov 24th nominations end, Q&A begins
-Dec 15th election opens Q&A will continue
-Jan 5th election ends

The Q&A is underway and the debate is heating up here in the sticky announcements section on thenaf.net. I will keep up to date on the discussions and may share some of my thoughts, here or more possibly on my own blog so it doesn't sound like an official NAF Canada position.....

I would encourage all Canadian NAF members, and those in North American to read and participate in the discussion around the election as if you don't speak (write) you won't be heard (read)!

North American Team Championship 2013

Just a quick update for Canada to let you know that the bidding process is open to host the first North American Team Championship in 2013.

A Canadian bid or three would be an excellent way to draw attention to the potential of Canada in the North American Blood Bowl Scene. NAF Canada would be happy to support any Canadian groups in the production of a big package.

Ask for a bid package at the address below if you are interested!

Also let us know!

NAF CANADA

The following is taken from the "thenaf.net"

Following the success of the NAF World Cup II in Amsterdam (Nov 2011) we want to get a continental championship going now so a legitimate bid from North America can be made for the 2015 World Cup.

We also want to follow the bidding model to determine the host location for the event each time. The vision is a once every four year event, two years removed from the NAF World Cup each time.

1) Bids must only be submitted by email.

Northamericanteamchampionship@gmail.com

NAF CANADA Launches Blog

Welcome to the blog for NAF CANADA!

After the participation of Team Canada in the second NAF World Cup we wanted to make an effort to connect and celebrate the amazing blood bowl community we have in our country!

We are planning on making this blog a hub for the Canadian Blood Bowl community and we hope to feature some great "coach" generated content.

Our objective is to increase cohesion and participation in Blood Bowl activities in Canada, not just in NAF sanctioned tournaments but also leagues and conventions.

We will also take a lead in organizing Canadian teams to participate in International events like the World Cup, the North American Team Championship and larger "foreign" tournaments.

We hope to bring you more info and content real soon.....

Thanks,

NAF CANADA
